General: Reserved for any
year North American manufactured car of which 500 units have been built
and its showroom available. Heads up, pro start, first car to finish
wins.
Engine: The engine must be the same make as the body. Corporate engines are accepted. Displacement is unlimited. Engine may be set back, provided all the rules outlined under firewall are followed. Carburetor: Only one single four-barrel carburetor is permitted; any size and any modification allowed. Non-nitrous cars may use two carburetors. Splitting of carbs is not allowed. Intake Manifolds: Cast aluminum, generally available manifolds only. Single four-barrel manifolds must be one-piece manifold manufactured for that purpose. Non-nitrous cars may use, any style intake allowed. Cylinder Heads: Any cylinder heads are allowed, which a single four-barrel intake has been manufactured for, from cast aluminum and is generally available. Any internal modifications are permitted. NITROUS SYSTEMS Port type systems: Only single stage port nozzle systems. One nozzle per port, nozzle must consist of one fuel line and one nitrous line. Plate type systems: Allowed, but must mount directly below carburetor and use spray bar type plate. Maximum of 4 spray bars; 2 for nitrous and 2 for fuel. Nozzles are not allowed in the plate. Single plate systems: One plate mounted directly below carb. One spray bar to fuel and other for nitrous. Maximum of one nitrous solenoid and one fuel solenoid. Single stage systems may remove 50 lbs. But may not be less than minimum weight. Solenoids: Any generally available solenoids accepted,Max 2 for nitrous and 2 for fuel.May use one purge solenoid but exit must be well away from hood opening. Exhaust: Headers are permitted. Final outlets for open exhaust cannot exceed 5" up diameter. Fuel: Gasoline only. Maximum acceptable DC meter reading is 0. The use of propylene oxide is prohibited. Due to the increasing cost of exotic fuels,particapant must declare what type fuel that they are using and mixing of fuels will not be allowed. Fuel system: Fuel cells are acceptable, 10 gallon maximum, and may be mounted in the trunk. Electric fuel pumps allowed. Tank may be sectioned for suspension clearance. Additional fuel cells for nitrous systems are allowed. Radiator: Full size, stock-type, automotive radiator is mandatory for body used cutting, denting, or removal of any body, fender, radiator, or grill panels is prohibited. Stock-type water pump or electric unit is mandatory. Transmission: Full automatic, with a maximum of three forward speeds with conventional torque converter. Lock up converters are prohibited. Transbrakes are permitted. After market, clutch-operated disc type clutched allowed. Titanium bellhousing not allowed. Suspension: Must retain stock style front suspension . Aftermarket control arms are acceptable. Front shocks and springs may be replaced with coilovers, but must be attached near stock location, On all cars, The upper control arm may be removed, tire and wheel location must remain stock+ or - 1 in. Must have frt suspension covered with stock style inner fender splashpans which are permanently mounted (bolted or welded. Rear suspension may be changed or modified without any restrictions. Steering: Any type of steering allowed, stock or after market. Must use stock type steering column with stock trim. Ballast: Maximum of one hundred pounds of removable ballast in acceptable weight box. All other ballast must be permanently attached. (Bolted or welded). Bumpers: May be replaced from with exact duplicates in fiberglass. Bumpers may not be molded to the body. Frame: Must be stock automobile frame for body used. Rear frame may be modified or replaced from firewall to rear of car. Cross members may be modified or fabricated for transmission swaps, shocks and traction bars. Front to rear frame strengthening may be added. If material passes through the floor, floor must be welded to a member leaving no holes in the floor. If a front cross member is altered for oil pan installation, all material and strength must be replaced by boxing or installing removable or permanent material. Roll Cage: Mandatory. WEIGHT BREAKS -- BIG BLOCK WITH NITROUS: Minimum weight 3000 lbs. At 400cu. in. Cars must add 2.0 lbs. Per cu. inch for engines larger than 400 cu. in. Must add 2.25lbs per cu. inch for engines larger than 511cu. in. Must add 2.5lbs per cu. in. for engines larger than 580cu. in. Big blocks with stock port configuration and placement may remove 50 lbs. If questionable please call 1st. -- SMALL BLOCK WITH NITROUS: Minimum weight 3000lbs. At 400 cu. in. Add 2.0lbs. per cu. in. for larger than 400. Engines with stock port configuration may remove50 lbs. WEIGHT DEDUCTIONS: -- Full size bodies that were produced prior to 1977 with engines over 500 cu. in. may remove 100lbs. 50lbs. may be removed for full size cars under 500 cu. in. -- Midsize bodies that were produced prior to 1977 over 500 cu. in. may remove 50 lbs. 25 lbs. may be removed for midsize cars under 500 cu. in. -- Single plate nitrous systems may remove 50lbs. Weight adders: All cars using clutches add 50 lbs. Weights distribution: Not more than 50% of total weight of vehicle allowed on rear wheels with driver in normal position. Cars will be weighed with driver. Wheel Base: Must retain stock wheelbase and tread width for body used +/-1". Minimum wheelbase is 97". Tires: Any size tire is allowed. Interior: Must have full-type upholstery, including front and rear seats, factory-type rug in place. No interior gutting permitted. Read seats may be removed for installation of roll cage if area is carpeted. After market front seats are allowed, but must match interior color. Must have stock type pedals in stock location. Body: Customizing restricted to paint only. Body must be not altered in height, weight, width, length, or contour. Use of after market fiberglass is restricted to hood,trunk and bumpers. Removal of body parts, fenders, or bracing is prohibited. All body panels must be stock. Acid dipping or other excessive lightening is prohibited.Dzus fasteners,or hood pins are only allowed to fasten the hood only.Any other body panel must be attached with nuts and bolts(unexposed) or stock type hinges. Fenders: Rear fenders may be opened for larger tires, as long as edges are rerolled and refinished. Tire tread and wheel rim must be inside stock bodylines. Fender splash pans: Mandatory. Shock towers or spring towers may be modified . Any material allowed, but stock configuration must be maintained.Must be permanently mounted(bolted or welded). Firewall: May be flattened and modified for distributor clearance only, and must be refinished. Other alterations are prohibited. Engine must not touch the firewall. If you don't understand this, please inquire before making modifications. Floor: Stock mandatory. Area from frt of driver's feet to rear of trunk may be replaced. Removable transmission tunnel is permitted, as long as area is carpeted. Rusted floorboards may be replaced as long as the same material is used. Grill: Must be full stock production for body used. No covering in front is allowed. Hood: Fiberglass is acceptable. Cowl induction type hood scoops only. Factory type forward scoops are ok. Scoop height must not exceed 6" from hood base to the tallest portion of the scoop. Spoilers: Must be automotive production for body used. Front and rear are not required. Street Equipment: Headlights and taillights must function. Brake lights and turn signals are recommended, but not required. Windows: All windows and windshields must be in good condition; clear except for factory tinted safety glass. Windows must be operative and closed during the competition. Frt and rear windows may be replaced with lexan, however they must be at least 3/16 thick and must be mounted EXACTLY like the factory glass with NO screws or supports. Lexan will not be allowed in cars that have the rear glass mounted in the hatch. All side windows must be factory. Battery: Trunk installation is permitted; two allowed, 100 lbs. Maximum weight. Instrument: Stock dashboard mandatory. Operational instruments are permitted. Tow Vehicles: Prohibited Credentials: NHRA competition license is mandatory. Must have all safety requirements as outlined in NHRA rulebook. |
